An unidentified motorcyclist was killed while four other persons were injured on Thursday when the driver of a bus lost control and ran over the victims at the Government House Roundabout, Gombe.
According to an eyewitness the white J5 Boxer bus was conveying agricultural produce to a market when the driver lost control and rammed into the motorcyclist and slammed him unto the wall of a fence.
The eyewitness, who gave his name as Joshua Christopher, told Northern City News that the accident occurred around 7.15am.
“The driver was seen battling with his steering. He hit an unsuspecting motorcyclist before finally ramming into a fence very close to the Government House. It took the intervention of security operatives to rescue the other victims,” he said.
A officer of the Gombe Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, identified simply as Jibrin, told our correspondent that he called the command’s response team to rescue the situation.
He said, “Since I was close to the scene of the accident, I made efforts to immediately call for help so that the victims could be rescued.
“As of now, we have recorded one causality and four other persons sustained injuries. The victims have been taken to the state Specialist Hospital for treatment.”
