Two drug peddlers, Nonso Chukwulobe and Ikechukwu Ifekandu, have been jailed for a total of 17 years.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Anambra State Command, disclosed this in a statement issued in Awka on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, Charles Odigie.
Odigie said the convicts hail from Umota-Obosi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
He said while Chukwulobe, 56, was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, Ifekandu, 45, would serve five years in prison.
The statement read in part, “The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Anambra State Command, has secured the conviction of two notorious drug lords from Umota-Obosi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
“Delivering the judgement at the Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Justice Mohammed Abubakar sentenced Nonso Chukwulobe, who was arrested with 17.6 grams of heroin, to 12 years’ imprisonment.”
The PRO added that Ifekandu, who was arrested with 170 grams of cannabis sativa, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
“The NDLEA Anambra State Commander, Sule Momodu, has advised drug peddlers to relocate from the state as there will not be a hiding place for them,” the statement added.
