The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday condemned the comment credited to a former governor of the state, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, that the APC would not win the November 18 poll in the state unless by rigging.

The party described the former governor as a prophet of doom and a paper tiger, adding that his comment was unbecoming of a statesman.

It said ordinarily, Ezeife’s statement ought not to have attracted any comment, but for the need to redirect what it called the role model criteria for Anambra State for the future.

In a statement issued by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Okelo Madukaife, titled, ‘Ezeife is wishing destiny away’, the party said ‘our party will win the November 18 election fairly’.

The party maintained that no group or power had been or about to be sent to ‘capture’ the state as wrongly suggested by Ezeife.

The party’s statement said, “On the contrary, there is a concerted effort, intensive hard work and fine-tuned strategy by our great party to win the November 18, 2017 governorship election and redirect the derailing course of Anambra State.”
